LONDON BRACED FOR LE TOUR

A busy weekend awaits for British sports spread betting fans as the Tour de France hits London as part of a huge programme of International sports to hit our shores.

With the British Grand Prix, cricket ODI and Wimbledon already attracting the attention of British sports fans, arguably the toughest endurance event known to man will head to London on Saturday.

Controversy has overshadowed the tour in the past, with the Floyd Landis saga continuing to rumble on although Alexander Vinokourov is another man in particular who will have victory in his sights.

In 2006, five of his team were implicated in a doping scandal, leaving him unable to compete but now, riding in a new team, Vinokourov is hotly tipped for the yellow jersey this time around.

Another rider tipped to perform well on this stage of the 2,200 mile is Alejandro Valverde, the man who showed his capabilities in 2005 by beating the legendary Lance Armstrong on the hill climb to Courchevel. Regarded as a strong all-round cyclist, it's no surprise that some are backing the 27-year-old to make an impact.

Russia will be hoping for its first ever tour winner and will be pinning its hopes on Vladimir Karpets. The time trial specialist is a former white jersey winner and is certainly one rider to watch as a potential dark horse.

Whilst the tour may start in London, the attention will soon turn to crowd favourite Christophe Moreau once 'Le tour' crosses the channel. The 36-year old is in fine form and with the backing of a strong home crowd, he is another outsider that could cause a stir in as the tour gets to the final stages.

This weekend is certainly going to prove a bumper weekend in the world of spread betting. With major events taking place at Silverstone and SW19, there are plenty of other online spread betting opportunities to enjoy.
