Big Week For Big Four

Next week sees the return of the Champions League featuring europe's elite teams

Next week sees the return of the Champions League group stages, with all four English clubs looking well placed in their respective groups, there will be a lot of football betting in the UK backing all four to progress to the knockout stages. The dominance of English teams in Europe over the last two seasons (three English teams making the semi-final stages for the previous two years) will push the odds for a repeat performance, promoting confidence in UK spread betting.

Liverpool will host Athletico Madrid and will be hoping that Fernando Torres recovers from his hamstring injury in time to take part. Torres missed his opportunity to return to Madrid and the team he captained from the age of 19, making 214 appearances and scoring 82 goals.

Athletico earned a well earned draw in the game in Madrid after a superb finish from their playmaker Simao who levelled the score at 1-1 in the 83rd minute.

Manchester United travel to Celtic for the second leg of their so called 'Battle of Britain' with the English and European champions looking like red hot favourites of collecting another 3 points against a Celtic side that were totally outclassed during their Old Trafford visit where United cruised to a 3-0 victory.

It has been well documented that Celtic have had away from home in Europe, however Gordon Strachan's men will take heart from 1-0 home victory over United, ain 2006 which will certainly raise interest in the sport's spread betting arena.

Chelsea travel to Roma and will be looking to bounce back from their home defeat to Liverpool on Sunday after the surrender of their 86 league game unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are still without key players including; Joe Cole, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba but should still have enough in reserve to defeat a Roma side that were recently defeated 4-0 at home by Inter Milan, managed by former Chelseas boss Jose Mourinho. . Bookmakers are likely to present favourable odds for any UK spread better.

Arsenal whilst not looking at their best in the Premier League have again looked assured when playing in Europe, none so more than in their recent trip to Fenerbahce where they rattled in five goals against a team not used to losing European ties at home. Arsenal will be buoyed by the imminent return of their influential striker Eduardo who is back in full training and will be keen to get back into the Arsenal squad prior to the conclusion of the Champions League group stage.

Perhaps more importantly, Eduardo and Arsenal will have one eye on their upcoming clash with Manchester United on 8th November in the Premier League. This will be Arsenal's first match against another of the 'big four' and a win for them over United would greatly increase their credentials as a title favourite this season. Last season saw these teams play out two action packed matches resulting in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates and a 2-1 United victory at Old Trafford, so the football odds and football spread betting will surely be in the favour of the European champions.
