TEVEZ ROW RUMBLES ON

Tevez Saga Continues

The Carlos Tevez fiasco rumbles on as FIFA refuse to rule on his proposed transfer to Manchester United.

With nobody seemingly able to make a decision on who owns the rights to the Argentinean striker, FIFA have followed suit in passing the buck in this messy affair, deciding that the matter should be transferred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has yet to confirm if it will hear the case whilst Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian, the man who claims to own Tevez's economic rights, is heading to the High Court in an effort to reach a resolution before the August 31st transfer window.

The dispute centres on Tevez's arrival at Upton Park back in January and an arrangement with Joorabchian and his firm, Media Sports Investments, who owned the image rights to Tevez and compatriot Javier Mascherano. That arrangement ultimately cost the Hammers a £5.5million fine for improper conduct.

Tevez is currently registered as a West Ham United player although Joorabchian claims that he still remains the owner of Tevez's "economic rights". This stumbling block ultimately dictates whether it is Joorabchian or West Ham that receives the reported £transfer fee from Manchester United.

The decision could scupper Tevez's switch to Old Trafford before the season's start and Tevez is not the only Argentinean that Manchester United have had difficulty with this summer.

Defender Gabriel Heinze is at the centre of a dispute between United and Liverpool over a £6.8m deal.

Whilst no minimum fee release clause is stipulated in Heinze's contract at Old Trafford, it is believed that such a clause does exist in a letter from United to Heinze's agent, prompting Liverpool to seek legal advice.

Like the Tevez saga, the battle over Heinze could rumble on well past the transfer deadline. No doubt Sir Alex is wondering why these transfers couldn't have been as easy as his other four signings this summer.
