WOODS EYES HISTORIC GRAND SLAM

Woods has won seven of the last nine majors

Tiger Woods believes that he can become the first player in history to win all four golf majors in a season.

The World number one, speaking ahead of Thursday's Masters in Augusta, has won seven of the last nine majors and  Sporting Index have offered a golf betting spread of 120-124 based on 50-points for a victory over the four majors.

Woods has been in sensational form this year so far, winning three PGA Tour events in 2008 as well as the Dubai Desert Classic in February and believes that the 'Grand Slam' is certainly achievable.

"I think this is my 12th or 13th season and in nine of those years I've won five or more tournaments, so just got to win the right four," said Woods.

"I've won all four in a row before," he added, referring to his wins in The Open, US Open and the USPGA in 2000 and the Masters the following year."

But Woods did concede that the competition is still going to be fierce, despite what the golf betting markets suggest.

"I think most of the top guys are playing well this year," he added.

"I'm thinking of Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson; Retief Goosen is starting to play better. Ernie Els is playing better, Jim Furyk is starting to turn it around a little bit and Adam Scott is playing well - a lot of guys are playing well this year.

"You have to have a lot of things come together in order to win a championship and more so for major championships.

"One break where you hit a tree and it goes out of play and doesn't come back in, or it happens to catch a right slope, or catches a gust of wind - all these little factors that come in just one time is the difference between winning and losing.

"It really is hard to quantify that to people. You ask all of the players and caddies - they are the only ones who really understand the difference between winning and losing, how fine that is."
