PATS ON ROAD TO PERFECTION

Patriots: 12-point start on offical points spread

The NFL reaches its climax this Sunday as New York Giants aim to end the Patriots big for perfection.

The Giants have stunned everyone purely by making it this far. The wildcard play-off outfit have become only the fourth team in NFL history to win four "road" games en-route to the season finale and after conceding 80 points in their opening two games, a Super Bowl was the last thing on the minds of the Giants faithful at the start of the season.

New England on the other hand, have been the favourites well before the season kicked-off and head to Arizona aiming to make NFL history.

The Patriots are aiming to become the first team ever to win every single game in the 19-game season. Bill Belichick's side became the first side to finish the 16-game regular season with a perfect record and after play-off victories over Jacksonville and San Diego, the AFC champions have been made 12-point favourites on the official points spread, the fourth biggest in Super Bowl history, to achieve a 100% record.

Their ability is one thing, but the Patriots are a team with experience of the 'Greatest show on Earth'. The men from Foxborough are appearing in their fourth Super Bowl in seven years whilst the Giants are in their fourth since 1986 and first since 2001.

In quarter-back Tom Brady, the Pats boast a three-time champion and two-time MVP and with record-breaking receiver Randy Moss lining up with Jabar Gaffney, Wes Walker and Troy Brown, Brady has plenty of targets to throw to.

Giants quarter-back Eli Manning however, remains an enigma to many.

Invariably compared to his brother Peyton, Eli has failed to live up to much of the hype that surrounds him but this week, he will get the best possible chance to silence those critics and repeat the success achieved by his older brother 12 months ago as the Indianapolis Colts beat Chicago in Miami.

For many NFL betting enthusiast in Sunday however, the 12-point margin may be considered very generous as the Giants get a second chance to end the Patriots' march to the history books.

On the final day of the regular season, it was the Giants who came within a whisker of ending the Patriots 100% record, finally going down 38-35 at Meadowlands.

On Sunday, the Giants have another chance to stop the Patriots going down as the greatest team in NFL history.
