CARNEASY?

London, 17th July 2007 – Spread Betting Bookmakers Sporting Index this afternoon revealed a host of special bets on this week’s Open Golf Championship and are predicting that the course will play even easier than many pundits are predicting.

The Kennington based firm expect 21 players to finish under par come Sunday night, with the winner likely to sign for a final total close to the -7 mark.

“A lot of people have said that we are mad”, says Sporting Index spokesman Karl Suntay. “When you consider that Paul Lawrie’s winning score in 1999 was +6 and only ten players beat +10 three years earlier in the Scottish Open, it does seem strange. Yet, we really feel that the course has had its ‘teeth’ removed and with decent weather forecast, we expect plenty of sub 70 rounds.”

In fact, the firm predict that the lowest round of the week will be a staggering 65 and the worst round will be an 88. Sporting Index are also famous for predicting the finishing position of all players and reckon that Tiger will finish no better than 11th, Ernie Els no better than 23rd and Monty no better than 38th.
