D DAY AT THE OSCARS
Sporting Index predict Daniel Day Lewis’ acceptance speech will last 42 seconds
London, 22nd January 2008 - Dress makers throughout the USA are quaking in their designer shoes that this year’s Oscars will go the same way as the Golden Globes and be cancelled. Daniel Day Lewis is the clear favourite to win Best Actor following his performance in ‘There Will Be Blood’ and spread betting company Sporting Index are predicting that his victory speech will last 42 seconds. As always, spread betting punters can bet higher or lower on the predictions made.
Some winners tend to go on forever and ever thanking everyone from their mother, to their window cleaner and it is predicted that the music will stop four people’s acceptance speeches over the course of the night. “It’s touch and go whether the Oscars will even go ahead this year,” comments Sporting Index spokesman Karl Suntay, “We’re pretty confident that Lewis will scoop his second Oscar and if he does so, we don’t think he’s going to be thanking everyone from Los Angeles to Lyme Regis.”
