The Final Countdown

This weekend's Premier League action has plenty to offer for spread bettors with West Ham entertaining rivals Chelsea and Manchester United looking to take a further step to the League title against Tottenham. Sir Alex will have been delighted with both Liverpool and Chelsea dropping points mid-week, which with their win against Portsmouth puts them three points clear at the top, with a game in hand. Sporting Index traders see United as a shoo-in and have them as clear spread favourites for the title at 56.5-58 (Winner-60pts, Runner-up-40pts, Third-place-30pts, Fourth-20pts) with Liverpool at 40-43, Chelsea at 30-33 and Arsenal at 19-22.

The late kick-off on Saturday sees United take on an in-form Spurs who are now unbeaten in six league games against the ‘Big-Four' this season. Buyers of United's win index spread at 17 will be aware of Spurs' poor record at Old Trafford having gone W0-D3-L13. Those looking to spread bet in-running should note that United have won 13 of their 14 home games this term against ‘non-Big Four' opponents, but six of those came after going into the break level, including two of the last three against Blackburn and Aston Villa. Those spread bettors looking to buy total goal minutes with Sporting Index will be aware that Spurs have lost nine of their last 14 games at the ‘Big-Four' in the past four seasons, but six of those defeats came from second half goals. They have also been level at the interval in six of their last seven at the Big Four and in 63% of their 19 away league games in the past 12 months. The total goals spread market will be of interest as spread bettors will remember that these two sides have met twice already this campaign; both ending 0-0 and the last four league meetings at Old Trafford have seen just four goals.

West Ham face their big rivals Chelsea this Saturday in what promises to be a fascinating game for spread bettors. Zola has performed wonders at the Hammers which has seen them fighting for a European place and playing some terrific football. After the draw against Everton, Chelsea will need a win to keep hold of their somewhat distant title hopes. Buyers of the Blues' supremacy spread will be hoping they can put the mid-week disappointment behind them and claim the three points. Those following West Ham on the spreads will be pleased that they have lost just once at home in 2009, to league leaders Man United. Frank Lampard will return to his old club and can expect a hostile atmosphere. These London rivals have produced a number of feisty contests and those spread bettors looking at the total bookings market will be aware that the last seven matches have accumulated some large totals, 50, 45, 80, 70, 50 , 45 and 40.
