FANS READY FOR SUNDAY TITLE DECIDER

Crucial matches at the top and bottom

There's no doubting where the eyes of the football betting fans will be this week as the Premier League draws to a close.

The Premier League title race will conclude on Sunday with Manchester United and Chelsea fighting it out in a battle that makes the return of TV's 'Gladiators' look pretty tame in comparison!

Sunday's final day of the Premiership requires little introduction. Needless to say, there will be nerves and tension at either end of the table. Sporting Index has all the football spread betting markets that matter, so place your online spread bet today.

United, long-time favourites to defend their crown, travel to Wigan Athletic knowing that matching or bettering Chelsea's result would be enough to secure their tenth Premier League title.

But whilst the men from Old Trafford have been the pace-setters since Arsenal's post-Christmas slump, this week has seen a big rush from football betting punters to back Avram Grant's Chelsea, who face Bolton at Stamford Bridge.

Whilst on paper, United should have enough to get the three points that will guarantee success, the tie won't be as easy as many perhaps predict.

United are without a win on the road in four outings, dating back to their 2-0 win over Roma on April 1 whilst Wigan are a side in form. Steve Bruce's side are unbeaten throughout April having picked up points against Chelsea, Tottenham and Reading on top of an impressive 2-0 victory at Villa Park last week.

The much-criticised pitch at the JJB Stadium will most certainly be a factor and there's the added spice of the apprentice Steve Bruce looking to get one over on the master that is Sir Alex Ferguson..

Any one of those factors could leave the door open for Chelsea to snatch the title from under the noses of United and, given the hard time that Avram Grant has had this season, you wouldn't bet against Lady Luck smiling down on the Israeli on Sunday afternoon.

Despite being unwanted by the Chelsea fans following the departure of Jose Mourinho, undermined by constant reports of replacements being sought and questions over his tactical aptitude, Grant has led Chelsea to their first ever Champions League final and is just 90 minutes away from bringing the domestic championship back to Kings Road.

There's also some excitement at the bottom of the table, with the relegation battle still to be resolved.

Derby County fans have probably been looking forward to Sunday more than any other day as they finally get to leave the top flight, albeit as the worst side in Premier League history but there are still two unwanted Championship spots up for grabs next season and Birmingham, Fulham and Reading are all looking to avoid them.

Fulham are in the driving seat and arguably have the easier tie as they travel to the south coast to face a Portsmouth side who will invariably have one eye on the FA Cup final.

A win for Roy Hodgson's men would see them safe, save a six-goal swing in goal difference towards Reading, who travel to Derby. Birmingham simply have to win at home to Blackburn and hope that both Reading's and Fulham's results work in their favour.

Amid the recent comments that the Premier League is boring and predictable, there is at least something at both the top and bottom to keep fans glued to their screens on Sunday afternoon. With so much still to play for, now is the best possible time to check out the latest football spread betting markets with Sporting Index.
