ALL ROADS LEAD TO AINTREE

Sporting Index predict that this year’s Grand National winner will be trained 135miles from Aintree

London, 4th April - 40 runners go to post for the world’s greatest steeplechase on Saturday and spread betting company Sporting Index have opened up a new market on the number of miles the Grand National winner is trained from Aintree. The current prediction stands at 135miles, but hot favourite Cloudy Lane is only trained 20miles away in Cholmondley, Cheshire , whilst Francois Doumen’s two runners, L’Ami and Kelami, are trained 370miles away in Bouche , Normandy . The Irish have won four of the last five runnings and punters would be looking at a distance of 152miles for a winner from Tom Taaffe’s stable in Co Kildare and 192miles for Willie Mullins in Co Carlow.

Karl Suntay, Sporting Index spokesman, commented:

“The Grand National is one of the hardest races in the world to win – you only have to speak to Tony McCoy and Paul Nicholls to back this up. The ‘all roads lead to Aintree’ market provides punters with the option to have a number of horses running for them and buyers will be hoping hot favourite Cloudy Lane gets beat and perhaps that France can have their first National winner since Cortolvin in 1867!”
