MAJOR GAMBLE ON NATIONAL FINISHERS
Aintree, 13th April 2007 – Spread Betting Bookmakers Sporting Index this morning took a £20,000 bet on there being more than 17 finishers in tomorrow’s Grand National. The City based punter will scoop at least £80,000 if the number of completions matches the 2005 figure of 21.
“We’ve been swamped with punters who want to bet that there will be more than 17 who finish”, says spokesman Wally Pyrah. “However, we are happy to hold our price at the moment as the history book tells us that more than 20 finishers rare. Yet, if more than 20 were to complete it would cost us six figures”.
The firm also predict that the winning distance will be 7 lengths, the winning sp will be 18/1 and that 3 will fall at the first.
