STAY AWAY ON LADIES DAY
Royal Ascot, 20th June 2007 – Spread Betting bookmakers Sporting Index this morning opened a book on Ascot’s official attendance for tomorrow’s Ladies Day and are predicting a fall of over 7,000 on last year. In 2006, 73,296 men and women flocked through the turnstiles and the figure is expected to fall to between 66,000 and 67,000.
“After yesterday’s attendance barely managed to break 40,000”, says a spokesman for the firm, “we have to expect a fall on last year’s jumbo crowd”. As 69,928 attended the Ladies Day in 2004, the Ascot team look set for a slightly disappointing attendance.
