Sporting Index predict 18mm more rain to fall to make wettest summer ever
London, 22nd August 2007 - 1927 was the wettest summer ever recorded in the UK with a total of 329mm falling between June-August. We are currently sitting pretty at 313mm so only need a further 17mm in the next eight days to make 2007 the wettest summer of all time. Sporting Index are predicting – despite the Bank Holiday scorcher – that a further 18mm will fall during next week to leave summer 2007 with a total of 330mm.
“We have had so many false dawns with the weather this summer.” comments Karl Suntay, Sporting Index spokesman, “The Bank Holiday is going to be lovely but those rain clouds are waiting in the wings yet again and there’s every chance the record will be broken towards the end of next week.”
