Testimonials

" Maybe it's the greed in me but when your opinion is correct you can enjoy a handsome profit. There is no better feeling than sitting in front of the TV, beer in one hand, long of goals at 2.7, and it's 3-0 after 20 mins... "

" Spread betting is truly the thinking and agile-minded person's way of wagering. Infinitely more cerebral than fixed odds, the spread bettor has a huge range of products over many sports to choose from. "

" By a distance Sporting Index has the biggest range of markets, is the most innovative of the spread betting companies, and runs its business in a thoroughly efficient and professional manner. They are indisputably the sporting spread market leaders. "

" They offer by far and away the most comprehensive markets on any sport and have never been afraid to offer incredible levels of variety including numerous specials. I believe it is this innovation that has built and retained Sporting Index's success. They are the world leaders in spread betting, this is not grossly inflated self importance, it's fact. "

" The satisfaction of buying shirt numbers just before a goal, or bookings just before the "fur begins to fly", cannot be experienced with fixed odds firms. "

Mr Ward, London  |     Click here to view this as a press advert

" There aren't many better feelings than getting £20 long of TD shirts at 250 and as the QB launches a 60 yard bomb that is collected by the WR wearing 89 for his third TD of the game, you can sit back, light the cigar and relax! "

"
Having played the fixed odds market for years I finally tried my hand on the spreads and I was not disappointed. The level of excitement is magnified tenfold. "

Mr Carding, Essex  |     Click here to view this as a press advert

" Not only does spread betting provide punters with blood pumping entertainment from kick-off to final whistle, it also tests your judgement throughout, with many markets updated in-play, in the thick of the action. "

Types of Account

Sporting Index offer their clients the opportunity to open either a credit or deposit account. A credit account allows you to bet against an agreed credit limit, whilst a deposit account requires pre-deposited funds in the account. Once you have decided which facility suits your betting needs best, you are then required to choose between a Stop Loss and a No Stop Loss account:

1. No Stop Loss Account
If you open an account without a Stop Loss facility you will be able to place larger bets with potential for greater winnings and losses. More experienced spread bettors tend to choose this type of account.

2. Stop Loss Account
A Stop Loss Account offers you all the thrills of an ordinary spread bet with the added security of limiting risk. A Stop Loss Account offers you the chance to spread bet with a safety net:

  • Every bet placed through a Stop Loss Account is subject to a maximum stop loss. This means you will know the most you can win or lose every time you place a bet.
  • Small minimum stakes allow you to enjoy spread betting without the risk.
  • For sheer convenience, Stop Loss Account holders can arrange for their accounts to be card-managed, meaning balances can be settled automatically on a fortnightly basis through your debit account.

Online Security

There is no need to be worried about trading online with Sporting Index. Our website has been designed by online experts with security of paramount importance. Our secure server software encrypts all of your personal information (ie your name, address and card number) so that it cannot be read as it travels over the internet.

Limit Your Risk

Spread betting can be very rewarding and produce large returns on small stakes. Basically the more you're right, the more you win. However, the opposite may also be true. The more you're wrong, the more you potentially lose. The profit or loss is determined by the difference between the final result and the level at which the bet was originally made, multiplied by the stake that you nominated. In some volatile markets, such as cricket runs, your profit or loss can escalate very rapidly.

With our Stop Loss/Win account you can benefit from a cap on the amount that can be lost. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the stop loss rules as they can limit your winnings, limit the size of bet if it was to expose you to excessive risk, or in some instances cause a bet to be refused.

Financial Services Authority Regulated

Sporting Index is regulated by the Financial Services Authority who are the single statutory regulator responsible for regulating deposit taking, insurance and investment business. The Financial Services Authority is the British equivalent of the American CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) and SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) rolled into one.

Financial Services Authority regulators inspect spread betting firms on a regular basis to ensure that each firm conforms to the strict rules of the Authority. These include the setting aside of funds as a guarantee against a company suffering big financial losses, as well as a host of stringent regulations to protect the client. Any money deposited with these Financial Services Authority-regulated companies is segregated under the Authority's regulation to ensure complete security. Winnings are also guaranteed under Financial Services Authority regulation.
