What types of phone does the service work on?
We've now made our mobile betting service available to everyone regardless of what phone or network you have. From Nokias to Blackberrys to iPhones and Androids, it doesn't matter what you've got, you'll be able to Bet on the Move. If, during the download process, you receive a message that your phone is not compatible, you will need to use our mobile internet site by typing mobile.sportingindex.com into the address bar of your phone's internet browser.


How do I download the service?
Simply click on the 'Download' tab above and follow the instructions on the page. You'll just need your Sporting Index Account Number, Password and mobile phone number.


How do I use the service?
The service is easy to use but rather than us tell you, why don't you check out our specific iPhone Demo which will show you how to do everything from placing a bet to withdrawing money back to your card.


I get a 'your phone is incompatible' message when trying to download, what do I do?
If you've received this message it means that we don't currently support your phone with our specific JAVA service. Don't worry though as you'll still be able to use our mobile internet site by typing mobile.sportingindex.com into the address bar of your phone's internet browser.


How much does it cost?
We don't charge you to download or use the service. But as you have to use your phone's internet connection in order to do this, the only cost will come from your mobile network operator. This will more than likely be a standard cost, but it is certainly worth checking. Most network operators include internet browsing as a standard part of many tariffs these days. So if you plan on using the service quite a lot, you should enquire about getting unlimited internet access as part of your deal. You can then use it as long as you want!


Is the service secure?
Yes it is. Due to the nature of wireless communication the service has been designed with security as top priority. Your personal data is our primary concern and as such we have employed the latest multiple encryption technologies to ensure that the information which passes between your phone and our servers is totally secure.


During the download process I am advised that the application is from an 'Unknown' or 'Untrusted' supplier, is this correct?
There is a known issue where some handsets regard the application as 'unknown' or 'untrusted'. Please be assured that the software is verified and secure. If you see this message when attempting to download please select 'yes' to continue.


Why do I have to enter a PIN?
We know it's very time consuming to enter your full account details each time you log on. With Bet on the Move, one of the features that sets it apart from other mobile applications is that you only need to enter your Sporting Index Account Number and Password the first time you use it. After that all you'll need to log on is a 4 digit PIN, which you create yourself.


What if I forget my PIN?
There is an option to reset your PIN by selecting on the 'Options' button at the enter PIN screen. If you select this option, you'll be asked to re-enter your Sporting Index Account Number and Password and will then be asked to set up a new PIN. Due to encryption, we cannot see or change your PIN and at no point will we ever ask you for it.


Why don't the prices update automatically?
If you're using the application on the iPhone or through mobile.sportingindex.com, and notice that the prices are not updating then you need to hit the 'Refresh' button in order to see the latest prices or the current value of your Open Bets.


Can I use the service abroad?
Yes. As long as your mobile operator supports the use of internet browsing abroad you should be able to use the service. Although you may need to change a setting on your phone, which your network operator can easily help you with. Please note that charges for using the internet abroad on your phone can be very expensive so check with your operator before you use it abroad.

Content Blocking
If you're having problems accessing the service, you may be affected by Content Blocking. UK network operators implement a policy of blocking certain types of content and services on their networks. This is done in order to prevent anyone under the age of 18 from accessing these services and means that adults are required to "opt in" in order to use certain services, which include Bet on the Move.


How do I remove Content Blocking?
Simply put, you need to verify that you are over the age of 18 with your network operator, usually this means registering your credit card details with them. Please contact your network operator (on the contact numbers above) for more details on this.
