Hornets sting spread betting firm with six-figure loss

Watford late show proves very costly for leading sports spread betting company Sporting Index

Tuesday, 6th February 2018 – Sporting Index punters had the last laugh after Watford’s sensational late goal rush stunned Chelsea at Vicarage Road and contributed to a six-figure loss for the leading spread betting firm.

After Eden Hazard’s equaliser in the 82nd minute drew Chelsea level following Troy Deeney’s opener, the Hornets replied with three late goals to crush the Premier League champions 4-1 and leave Antonio Conte’s job hanging on the line.

While the Italian sweats over his future, punters were left rubbing their hands after Watford No.37 Roberto Pererya’s strike took total match shirts to 65, comfortably above the pre-match quote of 35.

The Argentine winger’s stoppage time hit, combined with goals from Daryl Janmaat and Gerard Deulofeu in the 84th and 88th minutes respectively, propelled total goal minutes to 386, resulting in a profitable evening for some punters, but an expensive one for Sporting Index.

Ed Fulton, trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said:“Hands up – we didn’t see that win coming for Watford. While Eden Hazard’s late equaliser took goal minutes to 124, we were comfortable that would be all she wrote.

“However, Watford’s late goal rush, combined with the match shirts market and added points for corners and the sending off, hit us to the tune of six figures. Well done to the punters who saw the opportunity and took it.”

Soaring Swans cost Sporting Index six-figure sum

Premier League side’s eight goals against Notts County proves costly for leading sports spread betting company

Wednesday, 7th February 2018 – Sporting Index punters were left flying high last night thanks to Swansea’s 8-1 demolition of Notts County – but it left the spread betting firm staring at a six-figure loss.

Carlos Carvalhal’s Swansea side bagged four goals in each half to secure their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with Noor Husin’s goal the only highlight for the travelling away fans as the magic of the cup eluded them.

But it wasn’t just those linked to Notts County that were left licking their wounds, with the nine-goal thriller taking Sporting Index’s Goal Rush to a whopping 100 points – 78 higher than the pre-match quote of 22.

Ed Fulton, trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said:“With Swansea struggling in the Premier League and having failed to breakdown Notts County in the first leg, we felt a low scoring affair would play out again at The Liberty Stadium – boy were we wrong.

“With Swansea 4-1 up at half time, our trading desk were hoping boss Carlos Carvalhal would ease off the gas in the second half. But he didn’t, and it left punters in dream land, with the nine-goal total earning them 78 times their stake – and a heavy six-figure loss for us.”

Nearly half of Premier League fans expect unpopular City to win Champions League

Research from Sporting Index finds 49% of fans expect Guardiola’s side to lift trophy

Monday 12th February 2018 – As five Premier League sides get set to play their Champions League last-sixteen ties in the next week, spread betting firm Sporting Index can reveal nearly half of Premier League fans expect to see Manchester City lift the trophy in May.

The Citizens, who will line up against FC Basel in Switzerland tonight in the first leg of their lastsixteen tie, topped Sporting Index’s survey that asked supporters who they expected to win this season’s competition.

City have been flying in the Champions League this season, winning all but one of their six group matches; scoring 14 along the way. Supporters believe Pep Guardiola’s team have the best chance of winning Europe’s elite tournament, with 49% predicting them to be victorious.

However, more Premier League supporters will be rooting for the red half of Manchester in the remainder of the tournament. Only 12% of fans said they’d like to see City win the trophy, compared to 24% of supporters who said they would root for Manchester United in the last-sixteen.

Liverpool topped this section of the survey, with 26% of Premier League fans claiming they’d like to see Jurgen Klopp’s team bring the trophy back to Anfield.

Spurs, who take on two-time Champions League winners Juventus tonight, are the least popular English team in the tournament, with only 11% of fans claiming they’d like the north London side to go on to lift the trophy.

City fans are most confident of success, with 79% saying they can win the tournament, compared to 53% of Red Devil supporters who said they can follow up last season’s Europa League win with Champions League success. However, 38% of United fans also said they think bitter rivals City can lift the trophy.

Ed Fulton, political trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said: “With City already putting on some excellent displays in the group stages of the Champions League, many Premier League supporters think they can go on to become only the fourth English side to win the tournament.

“However, United are definitely the more popular Manchester team among the rest of Premier League supporters and will have double the backing compared to their city rivals.

“Fingers crossed we can see both teams wave the flag in the remainder of tournament – it would certainly be interesting to have an all Manchester tie at some point in the Champions League.”

Aguero to net milestone 200th Man City goal against Arsenal

Sporting Index predicts Argentine striker will miss out on milestone at Wembley in Carabao Cup Final

Monday, 19th February 2018 – Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will have to wait patiently for his milestone 200th goal for the club, after leading spread-betting firm Sporting Index predicted his next strike will come within 182 minutes of football.

The Argentinian, who currently sits on 198 goals, has opportunities against Wigan in the FA Cup tonight, Arsenal in the EFL Cup final on Sunday as well as a Premier League fixture next Thursday to score two goals and become the first player in the club’s history to reach a double-century.

However, Sporting Index’s Agueroooooo2oo market is predicting that Aguero will find the net early on during City’s league clash with Arsenal after failing to reach the milestone in the Carabao Cup final just a few days before.

In 12 career appearances against the Gunners, he has netted seven times in all competitions, including a penalty in November last year to secure a 3-1 win for the Sky Blues at the Etihad.

Ed Fulton, trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said: “Sergio Aguero is in unstoppable form this season and is a major reason why Manchester City have been so dominant in domestic action, so we don’t expect it to be long before he reaches the 200 mark.
“I’m sure he and the supporters would love to see him reach the milestone against Arsenal at Wembley but we believe he’ll just miss out on that. Although, it would be a special moment for the Argentine to score a cup final winner and hit a double-century at the same time.”
