The Masters golf from Augusta on Thursday is teeing up to be one of the most unpredictable tournaments in recent memory, but expect a familiar contender in the final mix-up. It may be seven years since Tiger Woods’ most recent Major win, a decade since his last Green Jacket and two months since he last hit a golf ball in anger, but the 14-time Major champion is fit and looking to recapture his finest form in Georgia.

Woods, now ranked 111 in the world after a self-imposed exile, is adamant he has cast aside the chipping ‘yips’ that plagued him last year. However, he faces a tough field that includes 19 Masters winners including favourite Rory McIlroy, defending champion Bubba Watson, and veterans Tom Watson and Ian Woosnam. The iconic Augusta National golf course offers a test like no other in the world, with the demanding Amen Corner stretching from the 11th to 13th hole, a tempting but booby-trapped 10th and huge crowds adding untold pressure to the easiest of shots. Two-time champion Bubba Watson discovered two years ago how unforgiving the course could be. Having donned the Green Jacket in 2012, he was 16 shots behind eventual winner Adam Scott in 2013, before a resurgent 2014 tournament saw him crowned champion for a second time.
